Government's acceptance of the final bids for Air India on the 15 September 2021, marks a turning page in India's Aviation history. The wait is over to see who some of the contenders are, finally. Definitely a positive step in Governments efforts to enthuse life in what was once a mighty 'Maharajah' of the Aviation World. Just another 21 days for the story to unfold when authorities decide the bid-winner. Irrespective of who triumphs, the 'Maharajah' would require a complete make-over. It will be a turnaround task for the new ownership. Swelled-up cost structure, subdued international travel demand, lack of people-centric approach, absence of fleet harmonisation and poor technological adoption might be some of the key areas. The logic will dictate to 'win-the-hearts' first, both internally and externally. To enthuse confidence, a simple process of improving customer-centricity, aircraft up-keep, on-time performance and safe operations along with ease of transactions might be some of the low hanging fruits. Eagerly waiting to see the developments as they unfold. It however might be appropriate to wish now, 'Long-live the future, Maharajah!'
