Interesting times, as they say are quite relevant for airline business. Witnessing an interest like this (Jhunjhunwala to start an airline), only seals the fact that air traffic growth in India is still relevant. Innovation is definitely going to be the key dimension for any new airline to distinct itself. Technology will therefore play a pivotal role. The question always had been though if the regulatory environment will ease for airlines to run their business as ‘a business’ in India. However, I have witnessed ‘Rule of 3’ quite evidently in the Indian Aviation Market. Take any airline model, low fare or full service, only three of each kind have been consistently in the business. So perhaps a gap for a full service airline in India as only Vistara & Air India remain to be in business as of now, might be a game changer. With a bit of innovation & more of technology, there could be a definitely prospective Full Service Airline. From the news, it though seems, the new entrant wishes to challenge the Low Fare Segment that is dominated by IndiGo & Spice Jet. Only time might then tell who will sustain in the future!
